About this Course

This course is a continuation of Aqeeda-1, in which we covered the foundational concepts of Aqeeda (Creed) in Islam. This course will address higher level in Aqeeda issues which circulated among early Muslims, and matured into different established schools.

  • Ayat Muhakamat
  • Mutashabehaat
  • Asma’ and Sefaat
  • Qada’ and Qadar
  • The rise of Jabriyyah
  • Mu’tazila
  • The impact of Greek philosophy upon Islamic theology
  • The growth of different schools:
    • Ahl Hadith
    • Mu’tazila
    • Asha’ira
    • Maturideyyah

Assessment Methods: 

  1. Student participation in class discussion (20%)
  2. Mid term exam (30%)
  3. Final exam (50%)
