The Al-Ezz Journey: Inspired by Legacy, Driven by Heritage

Al-Ezz Academy is a Higher Education Islamic Institute, dedicated to cultivating courageous and competent scholars

Why We Exist?

This Academy emerged from a crucial conversation between a dedicated student and his esteemed shaykh, both deeply involved in the Canadian Muslim community. They identified a pressing issue: many young Muslims, despite affirming the core tenets of Islam, were increasingly influenced by ideologies conflicting with Islamic principles, such as liberalism, secularism, and modern social justice concepts.
Recognizing that local madrassas, while producing numerous ‘alimiyya graduates, often left them unprepared to tackle contemporary issues, Al-Ezz Academy was founded to bridge this gap. Our mission is to cultivate scholars who can navigate today’s social, political, and intellectual landscapes with integrity and wisdom, combining classical Islamic scholarship with critical engagement in modern challenges.
We aren’t in the business of simply creating teachers who teach Arabic or basic fiqh in the confines of madrassas. We’re in the business of leadership creation. Our graduates will become thought leaders and contribute tremendously by solving real-world problems while inspiring and guiding humanity with their deep understanding and practical application of Islamic principles.

Our Inspiration

Hero of Islam, Shaykh al-Islam,
Al-Ezz ibn Abdissalam RA (d. 1162 CE.)

Imām Al-Ezz was a legendary scholar, judge, and imām, renowned for his intellectual brilliance and fearless resolve. Dubbed the 'Sultan of the Scholars' and the 'Salesman of Kings,' he boldly challenged the rulers of his time, denouncing their corruption and incompetence with only Allah SWT as his fear. Al-Ezz is celebrated for rallying the Muslims of Egypt, including Sultan Qutuz, to resist the devastating Mongol invasion.

His leadership played a pivotal role in the historic Battle of Ain Jalut, where the Mongol advance was decisively halted, marking one of Islam's greatest victories.

We have named our academy after this revered Imām, with a mission to reverse the decline of the Ummah and lead its revival. Our goal is to counter secularization among Muslims and tackle spiritual and social challenges. At Al-Ezz Academy, we are committed to upholding the spirit of the 'Sultan of the Scholars,' nurturing wisdom and bravery in our scholars, and inspiring a united and brighter future.
